Bodjie Dasig (Book/Music/Libretto)
When people meet Bodjie Dasig, they cannot help but think of Odette Quesada. Small wonder since the two have been collaborating since 1989 and married since 1993. The association simply can’t be helped. But as intertwined as their careers may have been, upon closer observation, it becomes clear that their histories are so unlike, it’s a wonder they ended up working together.
Where Odette made her debut as a writer for other artists, Bodjie pretty much wrote songs for himself. He never joined any songwriting contests citing the Woody Allen principle that slightly goes “if people can tell you when you’re good, they can also tell you when you’re bad”. Not that he’s not jiggy with the idea of accepting awards. In 1993, Awit Awards bestowed the “Best Performance by a Group”, “Best Ballad” and “Record of the Year” awards to Bodjie for his hit song “Sana Dalawa ang Puso Ko”. Since then, he’s been producing albums with his wife for artists like Ariel Rivera, Rico J. Puno, Vina Morales and Rachel Alejandro, to name a few.
Following his wife’s lead, he also embarked on a career as a jingle writer and musical scorer for the advertising industry. Now settled in Southern California and involved in advertising for the Filipino Community, Bodjie is once again teaming with Odette to write and produce the music and libretto for the upcoming Fe de los Reyes musical “AMERIKANA”.
