Eva Caparas- Benthall (Rachel)

An original member of the showband Music and Magic, (with Kuh Ledesma 1979-80s), jumping board for both Fe de los Reyes and herself, plus 7 other seasoned Filipino musicians, Eva is celebrating her return to stage and entertainment via AMERIKANA.
 
Eva was soprano of the pioneering band, and the voice of 'I'll Be There/Ain't No Mountain High Enough', the band's finale and signature song in both their international and national performances from 1979-late 80s.
 
Born in Manila, Eva and Fe bumped into each other at the Ateneo Glee Club where she was spotted by Fe to audition for the band. And it has been all go since then until Eva dedicated some 16 years to her family of four kids, with whom she has traveled extensively, have lived in London and Dubai, and finally settling in the U.S., where she also happily re-unites with relations, teenage friends and former industry colleagues.
 
Eva was brought up surrounded by music and was on stage from school either singing, acting, on guitar or public speaking up until Ateneo de Manila and then 'Caligula' with Leo Martinez (directed by Peque Gallaga,1985). She pursued her own career for a couple of years after the band decided to go their own ways late in the 1980s, doing solo and featured artist gigs at the Music Museum, the former Birdland jazz depot, the Mandarin Oriental and Circus, Circus; concerts with the APO, Jeannette Basco, Gary Valenciano and her former band mates Kuh Ledesma and Jet Montelibano to name a few. Jet and Eva were also part of the Dinosaur and Lokal Brown albums, with ASIN as main artists (Eddie Formoso, writer, 1986).
 
Before motherhood beckoned, Eva co-produced and co-arranged 'BLACK IS BACK' in 1989-90, (Ray Cristobal, arranger) a series of concerts at the Music Museum using just her favorite platform, namely soul, R+B (of the 80s) and blues.
 
From kindergarten to high school music productions, to civic choir, to Music and Magic, to bringing up kids, to teaching vocals for dance camps in Dubai, to pursuing a watercolour hobby, to settling in the U.S., Eva has dreams just like anyone else and share what she enjoys the most - singing; and with this she hopes to enrich the Filipino entertainment hub in this part of the world.
